"Walk This Way" by Run-DMC featuring Aerosmith: the B-side

Walk This Way video clips: the broken wall, the wall tearing open and both bands on one stage, with pop-up fact bubbles

Quick hall pass: a rap trio that didn't want the song took it higher than the band that wrote it. Then the Super Bowl, Guitar Hero and two British girl groups all wanted a turn. Here's the B-side.

The halftime show: January 28, 2001, Super Bowl XXXV. Aerosmith played halftime and backed Britney Spears on "Walk This Way," in a show that also starred *NSYNC. Aerosmith's own song, handed to a teen-pop star, with a boy band on deck. The year 2001 did not believe in restraint.

The video game: In 2008, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith put Run-DMC's "Walk This Way" and "King of Rock" on the setlist, and made DMC a playable character. He takes over lead vocals on those two songs, and you can also play him as a guitarist. A man who rapped over a rock band ended up as a rock band. In plastic. With colored buttons.

The homage: When two British girl groups covered it for charity in 2007, their video paid tribute to the original's whole idea: two acts, one wall, knock it down. More on how that went over on Side B.

But first, a test. The title isn't from a rap ad-lib or a rock riff. Quiz time.
